About :

The Programme of Tourism and Hotel Management has been in service in 1989-1990 with 8 girls and 22 boys. Our programme which gives associate degree education is a two-year period school. In 1992-1993, evening education classes have been in service. To meet the needs in tourism sector, the prepration classes were in 2002-2003 and the education priod bacame 3 year- long. In our school, our students have been provided with an intensive foreign language education starting from prep classes. There have been 25 hours English lessons and being successful is obligatory. In the first year, 4 hours of Enlish a week is given in both half terms, in the second year in addition to 4 hours of English a week in both half terms, 3 hours of German a week is given. Also our studens have education on computer usage and on the usage of packet programmes such as Galileo, Fidelio, Elektra,Sentez, Sis-Par, Mod, etc? in practice in 3 seperate computr laboratories. In our university library, there are all vocational books, magazines and periodicals in service. In order to give the vocational lessons in practise, our school has been in toch with the businesses in the related sectors and therefore our studens have the chance to implement their theoretical knowledge into practice. In our vocational school, a 100 capacity restaurant which is in servive as Alacarte and Buffet meal, a pub unit and a practice-kitchen have let our students develop themselves in the field of food&beverage . Also, in housekeeping practice-room, the lessons are given in practice. There has been also an obligatory training programme in the summer term of the first year students and second year students to know about the sector closer. Vocational training places are high standart businesses which the school determined( 3-4-5 star hotels,food&beverage businesses with touristic documents, Airway businesses, Group A Travel Agencies) and vocational training period is of 6 weeks.



Vision :

Increased needs and spreading of the facilities and mechanisms to meet such needs from the international markets cause gradual increases year by year in the share of international trade in the economy of our country and also in the world economies. This intensity which is currently being experienced in the international trade necessitates fast, technical and error-free export and import operations for the implementations in the world. And this situation brings forth Turkeys need for technically-equipped and well-educated manpower in the sector. On the basis of the foregoing, a "Foreign Trade Program" was ed within the body of Vocational School for Social Sciences which has been going on with its specialist instructors, effective curriculum, and student quota which is full every year.



Mission :

To train the staff who have theoretically and practically enough knowledge and self confidence needed by the employment market.
 



Purpose :

Foreign Trade Program of our Vocational School aims to train individuals who are well-informed and sed enough to work in the foreign trade sector companies involved and to overcome and compete with the difficulties caused by the differences between foreign and domestic trade. The program is designed to provide the students with both theoretical and practical knowledge. It develops an understanding of the basic theories and tools of foreign trade and developing an awareness of their application in a practical business environment.

Definition of Program :

The program offers occupational knowledge and academic proficiency and provides training on basic topics such as International Economics, UN-Turkey Relations, Turkish and World Economics etc.



Admission and Registration Requirements :

Besides having a high school degree all the acceptance and registry conditions are determined by OSYM in accordance with YOK Regulations.



Recognition of Previous Education :

Students might be privileged of the subjects they have studied on other equal schools with the decision of the Board of Directors.
 



Graduation Requirements :

To graduate from the department, students have to pass all the courses with a cumulative grade point average 2 out of four. They also have to do the training course.



Assessment and Evaluation Regulations :

In this programme, the students have been put at least one mid-term exam and period-end exam for each lesson to be able to be successful from a lesson. The effect of the mid-term exam to the success grade is %40, and the period-end exam is %60.



Employment Oppurtunities :

Those graduated from our program after 2 years can easily find jobs, if they prefer as import and export employees in foreign trade firms as warehouse, inventory control, shipment or operation employees in logistics companies as technicians in exchange departments of banks experts in customs consultancy firms at various positions for college graduates in the public sector as marketing and sales employees and experts in international trade firms. Furthermore, the knowledge level of our graduates is sufficient to work in family businesses or found and manage their own "Foreign Trade Import & Export Companies".
 



Access to Further Studies :

 They can also transfer to a 4-year license degree program in the disciplines listed below, upon their success in the examination performed by Council of Higher Education (YOK): Banking, Banking and Finance, Banking and Insurance, Labor economics and Industrial Relations, Economics, Economics and Finance, Business Administration, Business Information Systems, Business Administration-Economics, Logistics Management, Capital Markets, Capital Markets and Grading, International Finance, International Business Administration and Trade, International Business Administration and Trade, International Logistics, International Trade, International Trade and Finance, International Trade and Logistics.
