Vision :

The vision of physics department is to become a preferred recognized and acknowledged department in the national and international level.



Mission :

To educate qualifed students who have ability of scientific thinking and responsibility of contributing to the scientific and technological development of the country by doing scientific research and transferring scientific knowledge to the community.
 



Purpose :

The aim of the department is to provide critical thinking ability and equip individuals with social responsibility professional skills and contribute to the scientific and technological development of the country by doing scientific research and transfere scientific knowledge to the community in the Msc, BSc and Phd. levels.

Definition of Program :

Our department, began its educational activities in 1976-1977 education year as part of the faculty of art and Science .In 1982, the department had been the part of the faculty of engineering.In 2008, arts and science devided and from that date the department is the part of faculty of science . The cirriculum (main and elective courses )has been rearranged according to the scientific developments. Undergraduate students have opportunity to combine theoretical knowledge with experimental applications with modern devices in laboratories. Educational and research activities in our department are carried out by 6 proffessors,13 assoc.prof., 5 ass.prof.,12 asistants, in divisions of Atomic and Molecular Physics, General Physics, Solid State Physics, Mathematical Physics, Nuclear Physics.Plasma Physics.



Admission and Registration Requirements :

Individuals has to passed the exams that made by ÖSYM (Turkish Government, Student Selection, Assessment and Placement Center) in the meaning of the legal and lawful rules of Selcuk University.



Recognition of Previous Education :

Some courses may be exempt under certain regulations. If the content of the courses taken at another institution is appropriate with the course content which approved by the faculty board, students may be exempt from this course.



Graduation Requirements :

To be graduate of Physics department(Bsc) , students must have passed from all core courses as well as adequate number of elective courses. The grade point average must be at least 2.00 over 4.00. Moreover, these all passed courses must have 240 ECTS Credits.



Assessment and Evaluation Regulations :

The marking and assessment term for each course has described clearly in the Course Teaching Plan.



Employment Oppurtunities :

Individuals who graduate from physics department can be resercher in government institutions like atom energy institution or TUBİTAK, or PTT. Also İf they take a certificate from education faculty, they can be a physics teacher in schools.



Access to Further Studies :

The most successful alumni can continue to Ms.C and Ph.D programmes in the department, they can also apply to other related areas.
