About :

The main purpose of the School of Foreign Languages, Department of Foreign Languages is to improve the students' knowledge and skills in the foreign languages required by the education programs they are registered to follow the courses at the university. In this context, in order to enable students to follow the courses, it is aimed to provide the students with the knowledge and skills appropriate to the objectives and expectations of the education given in the foreign language required by the departments they are registered in.



Vision :

The vision determined by our school for the future envisages a two-way expansion in foreign language teaching. By using contemporary methods, our school enables the students to be proficient in the acquisition and use of foreign languages, and on the other hand, it makes all kinds of attempts for the lecturers to improve themselves professionally, to develop their skills on an international level and to prepare or contribute to research projects on their own fields. Students are taught foreign language through contemporary course materials and methods. It is our vision to prepare an environment for our students to develop themselves in academic foreign language at the level that they can follow the programs in our own university as well as university programs abroad and to develop programs and offer courses on this subject. It is also within the scope of our vision to provide foreign language courses for academicians and individuals who will participate in the Continuing Education Center activities  and to increase their knowledge and skills in international level.



Mission :

In the Preparatory Program of Selçuk University School of Foreign Languages, foreign language courses (English, German, French, Russian, Arabic) are offered 24 hours a week for one year to the students of the faculties and vocational schools of Selçuk University. Students' foreign language acquisition, language and cultural development, contribution to the awareness of their own cultural values are among the principles of foreign language teaching. The main purpose of the School of Foreign Languages is to educate individuals who understand the importance of foreign language in a globalizing world, communicate and think critically with different languages and cultures, and transfer scientific developments to our country with the foreign language they have learned.

 In this context, foreign language education should be considered as a lifelong process and a window to the world.
