Program Description: Department of Chemistry was established in 1976 under the name of Chemical Engineering based on Faculty of Science. In 1984, it was transformed into Department of Chemistry by connecting Faculty of Science and Arts. After the division of the Faculty of Science and Arts, Department of Chemistry has entered into the constitution of Faculty of Science. It educates at bachelors, master s and doctoral level with 14 professors, 15 associate professors, 5 PhD faculty members, 1 research assistant and 2 technicians. Undergraduate education is carried out with theoretical courses and practical laboratory work. There are data show systems which are located classrooms for theoretical lectures. Besides, in order to carry out practical work, there are analytical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry and instrumental analysis student laboratories. For the conduct of research activities, there are currently 18 research laboratories, and in these research labs, analytical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, biochemistry and organic chemistry related researches are carried out. As a result of performed researches, about 100 scientific articles are published annually in SCI-INDEX journals.
